The Everlasting Love of Shampa's Pies

Like the infinite digits of Pi, love defies earthly bounds. It's a force that transcends time, weaving its way through cherished memories and comforting moments. Shampa's Pies understands the boundless power of love, and invites you to experience it through their delectable, crusty creations.

Nestled in the heart of Pacifica, Shampa's is a small, well considered bakery with a big following and immaculate vibes. Step inside and you’ll find ample free samples to help aid the tough decision-making process. Tempting treats like a fresh, sea salt-sprinkled chocolate chip cookie or daily hand pie will have you eagerly volunteering for pie pickup. On a recent Sunday the rotating hand pie was enchanting wild mushroom gruyere that had us melting.

Founded by legendary local surfer Haruwn Wesley, the bakery is a beacon of warmth and nostalgia in the community. It’s ground zero of the operation; Shampa’s Pies orbit the peninsula at local farmers markets, where Haruwn’s flavor and zest made an unforgettable first impression on thousands of loyal customers.

Though his untimely passing left a void, almost four years later the circle continues through the tireless efforts of his family. His wife Margaret, daughter Simone, and son Cosmo have ensured that Shampa's keeps delighting taste buds and evoking fond memories. Customers are greeted with the same love and enthusiasm Haruwn was famous for.

From the signature organic sweet potato pie to tantalizing apple cobbler and zesty lemon chess, each creation is crafted with care and meticulous detail. They only use the finest, locally-sourced ingredients and tweak the recipes according to the essence of Pacifica's salty ocean air. Fuji apples are purchased from Placerville or Sonoma, citrus comes from the Bay Area, nuts from Sacramento and stone fruit is grown at Dry Creek Peach in Healdsburg. Menus change with the seasons, supporting local growers and minimizing the bakery’s carbon footprint.

“Don’t bring fruit from South America to Pacifica,” Margaret wisely warns.

Love comes in many forms—sweet and savory, nostalgic and diverse. It can take you by surprise and leave you craving more. An endlessly renewable resource, love should be shared and celebrated. So the bakery offers 4-inch pies for flavor exploration; a box of 5 small pies is an elite takeaway and an 8-inch classic is sure to be the guest of honor at the Bay’s best dinner parties.

This pie is love, squared.
