Position Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated Ad Sales Consultants to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for independent contractors who love food and beverages and want to connect with the local community. Ideal candidates will be experienced in sales, have a strong knowledge of advertising and sponsorships, and possess the ability to pitch effectively to local businesses in the food, drink, health and lifestyle sectors. This role is crucial for driving advertising revenue and fostering relationships with local businesses. The ideal candidate will possess a consultative sales approach, be skilled in building lasting partnerships and have a passion for helping businesses grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sell advertising for our print magazine, online website, newsletter and local sponsorship opportunities.
- Prospect and develop relationships with local businesses, including restaurants, farms, wineries, breweries and lifestyle brands.
- Tailor advertising solutions to meet client needs and maximize their exposure to our engaged audience.
- Conduct sales presentations and negotiations, managing the full sales cycle.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients to ensure their continued satisfaction and renewal of advertising contracts.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling advertising packages and promotional materials.
- Track sales performance and provide feedback on market trends and client needs.
- Represent Edible Silicon Valley at networking events and community gatherings to to build connections and expand your network.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in sales, preferably in advertising or media.
- Passion for food, beverages, and community engagement, with local knowledge or affiliation.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse business owners.
- Strong negotiation and closing abilities.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
- Familiarity with digital advertising platforms and print media is a plus.
- Ability to pitch and communicate effectively with local businesses to benefit from reaching our audience.

Distribution Ambassador

Position Overview:
Edible Silicon Valley is seeking a reliable, organized, and self-motivated Distribution Ambassador to manage the delivery of our award-winning food and lifestyle magazine throughout Silicon Valley and surrounding communities.
This independent contractor role is responsible for ensuring that each issue of Edible Silicon Valley reaches our network of distribution partners promptly and professionally. The position includes an initial distribution following the arrival of each new issue, as well as occasional restocking visits throughout the publishing cycle.
As a representative of Edible Silicon Valley in the community, the ideal contractor is dependable, personable, and takes pride in maintaining strong relationships with our distribution locations.
Responsibilities:
- Pick up magazines from the designated storage or shipment location upon arrival of each new issue.
- Deliver magazines to a predetermined list of distribution partners, including businesses, retail outlets, cafés, markets and community locations.
- Monitor inventory levels at distribution sites and communicate any concerns or opportunities for adjustment to the publisher.
- Perform restocking visits as needed during the publication cycle.
- Maintain an efficient delivery route to ensure timely and accurate distribution.
- Track and record deliveries, including quantities, dates and locations served.
- Maintain clear, professional communication with the publisher regarding distribution progress and inventory needs.
- Serve as a positive ambassador for Edible Silicon Valley when interacting with distribution partners and community members
Qualifications:
- Highly organized and dependable with strong time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules.
- Comfortable lifting and transporting bundles of magazines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the Silicon Valley and Peninsula areas is preferred.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license required.
Independent Contractor Requirements:
- Providing and maintaining a reliable vehicle suitable for transporting printed materials.
- Maintaining a valid driver’s license and required insurance coverage throughout the contract period.
- Covering all expenses associated with performing the work, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, insurance, parking fees, tolls, and mobile phone usage.
- Managing their own schedule to meet agreed-upon distribution and restocking timelines.
Compensation
- Hourly compensation based on experience and qualifications.
- Expected range: $20–$30 per hour, depending on experience, reliability and familiarity with the service area.
- Contractors are paid for distribution and approved restocking hours worked.
- This is an independent contractor position; contractors are responsible for their own taxes and business expenses.

Edible Silicon Valley is seeking an enthusiastic, highly self-motivated Social Media & Partnership Development Representative to help grow advertising, sponsorship and partnership revenue across our regional food and lifestyle media platform, including our award-winning print magazine, website, newsletters, events and social media channels.
This is a unique opportunity for an independent contractor who is passionate about food, beverages, hospitality and local businesses, and who enjoys building meaningful connections within the community. The ideal candidate lives in the Peninsula or South Bay and is excited to represent a trusted local media brand dedicated to celebrating Silicon Valley’s food culture.
In this role, you will leverage social media, direct outreach, networking and relationship-building to identify and engage prospective advertising partners. You’ll connect with restaurants, wineries, hotels, retailers, food producers and other businesses whose values align with our mission, helping them understand how Edible Silicon Valley can support their marketing goals through print, digital, event and sponsorship opportunities.
The ideal candidate is comfortable initiating conversations, developing relationships, and presenting marketing solutions in a consultative manner. Success in this position comes from a combination of strong communication skills, social media savvy, entrepreneurial drive and a genuine interest in supporting local businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and cultivate new advertising and sponsorship opportunities through social media, networking, referrals and direct outreach
- Build relationships with local businesses and community organizations
- Present advertising, sponsorship and partnership opportunities across print, digital, newsletter, event and social media platforms
- Manage prospects through the sales process from initial introduction to partnership agreement
- Maintain regular communication with current and prospective partners
- Represent Edible Silicon Valley at local events and community gatherings when appropriate
- Collaborate with the publisher to develop creative partnership opportunities that align with client goals
Qualifications:
- Experience in sales, business development, marketing, social media, public relations or a related field
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable with outreach, prospecting and presenting opportunities to decision-makers
- Self-motivated, organized and able to work independently
- Familiarity with the local food, beverage, hospitality or lifestyle industries is a plus
