Half Moon Bay Brewing Company’s ales and barleywine selections deserve to take the spotlight on the keg stage this season. We attended a Pumpkin Harvest Dinner hosted by Half Moon Bay Brewing Company earlier this week. Our tastebuds were delighted with its original Mavericks Pumpkin Harvest Ale, and the Imperial Pumpkin Barleywine and Pumpkin Ale selections from Almanac Beer Company of San Francisco. No glass was left full, every drop of these delicious brews were enjoyed over tasty fare and pleasant company. We were greeted with friendly smiles and to the sound of kegs filling up glasses. The Mavericks Event Center is a spacious room with big windows and a large patio overlooking the marina. Guests were entertained by the salty breeze and an incredibly vibrant moon appearing over the mountains. Small bites, including Crispy Butternut Squash Ravioli, were passed to each guest before we all sat down for dinner. A long, gorgeous table was set and there was no shortage of pitchers being passed from person to person. Half Moon Bay Brewing Company’s James Costa and brewers from 21st Amendment and Almanac Beer Company were discussing each brew while we dined, giving us a full picture of how each one is crafted. After enjoying Vegetarian Pumpkin Bisque, Local Brussel Sprout Salads and Pork Tenderloin with Herb Risotto and Local Swiss Chard, we finished our meal on a sweet note. We’re talking small bites of Homemade Gingersnap Crust Pumpkin Cheesecake. Let’s just say we left the dinner with a certain “hop” in our step.
